Technology

All students, staff, faculty, and departments are responsible for the scanning of their own materials. Please visit the Library Services Desk for scanning assistance. 

Scanning

  • Located on the main floor of the Library
  • Best for high resolution images

Preparing to Scan:

  1. Place the item face-up on the black scanning bed
  2. Align the item with the white guidelines on the bed
  3. On the right-side computer screen, select your preferred language
  4. Select “Use shopping cart”
  5. Press the < arrow to expand the menu and select your preferred settings

Scanning:

  1. Hit “scan” on the computer screen
  2. The scanned page(s) will appear on the screen to the right
  3. Crop the image to your liking
  4. If the image is not clear enough, hit the delete button on the lower-right side of the screen and repeat scanning steps 1-3 until the scan is acceptable
  5. Hit “add” to add the current scan to your cart
  6. Repeat scanning steps 1-5 until everything is scanned

Saving Scans to USB:
*Choose “Scan to USB” if you are scanning more than 10 pages OR high-resolution images. USB drives may be borrowed at the Library Services Desk on the Main Level.

  1. Press the “open” cart button on the lower-right corner of the screen
  2. Confirm all of the pages are there
  3. Plug the USB drive into the front port
  4. Hit “save”
  5. Choose your preferred file format
  6. Name your file
  7. Choose your multipage format
  8. Choose if you would like the file to be text searchable (OCR)
  9. Click “next”
  10. Confirm your language settings
  11. Click “next”
  12. The scans will save to your USB drive
  13. Do NOT remove USB from machine until the red save bar disappears
  14. Remove the USB drive
  15. Clear your cart
  16. Exit to the main menu by pressing the “back” button on the lower-left side

Sending Scans to Email:
*Choose “Scan to Email” if you are scanning less than 10 pages OR low-resolution images. Large file scans will not send over email!

  1. Press the “open” cart button on the lower-right corner of the screen
  2. Confirm all of the pages are there
  3. Hit “email”
  4. Choose your preferred file format
  5. Enter your full @wit.edu email address
  6. Choose your multipage format
  7. Choose if you would like the file to be text searchable (OCR)
  8. Click “next”
  9. Confirm your language settings
  10. Click “next”
  11. The scans will send to your email
  12. Do NOT exit from machine until the red save bar disappears
  13. Clear your cart
  14. Exit to the main menu by pressing the “back” button on the lower-left side
