Library Spaces

F. Shawaf Terrace

The F. Shawaf Terrace is located on the main level of the Library.  Accessed from the café area, this outdoor space features seating for 40 people within a glass enclosure that illuminates at night. The Terrace is open whenever the Library is open, from March to November, weather permitting.  In the colder months (roughly Thanksgiving through Spring Break), the Terrace will generally be closed, although Library staff may open the Terrace when weather permits.

The Shawaf Terrace is a bookable space for academic, department, and staff events, from the months of March through November. Please email our Library Administrative Services Coordinator, Malissa Redmond at redmondm2@wit.edu to book time on the Terrace, with the following information:

  • Name of event
  • Date and time of event
  • Preferred set-up time for event

Please note, to have your event catered by Sodexo, please contact them here: https://colleges-fenway.catertrax.com/.  If you are not having your event catered, please remember to throw away any refuse in the trash bins. Please also feel free to connect with a librarian in the Schumann Library if you have any questions the day of.

Some considerations:

  • We can offer the Program Room as an alternative location in the event of rain, but it can only hold 28 people, not the 40 that the Terrace can offer. Otherwise, we would recommend setting an alternative rain date or location.
  • If you are catering through Sodexo, we ask that you have them set up on the Terrace, not in the library space, to avoid any disruptions.
  • If you need any furniture moved or rearranged, we ask that you contact Physical Plant. Due to the weight, the high-top tables are the only pieces of furniture that cannot be moved.

Our Library Administrative Services Coordinator will reach out 1 week before your event to confirm date and time, as well as to confirm event set-up details with you.

Please note, the Terrace is a Collab (C) Zone.
