Accessing Online Resources

When not on the WIT Campus, community members may run into some issues with accessing our online resources such as, databases, journals, e-books, etc. Here are a few methods to help you get appropriate access:

*Please note: if you are accessing resources from off-campus WiFi, you may be prompted to enter your WIT username and password.

Method 1: Start from the Library Website

  1. Go to the Research Tab of the website and select "Online Resources" or follow the link below:
  2. Select the resource that would like to use from there and begin research!

Method 2: Proxy Copy & Paste

  1. Copy the following text: https://ezproxywit.flo.org/login?url=
  2. Connect directly to a library-subscribed resource from off-campus (e.g. type https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/ into your browser's location bar).
  3. Paste the text to the beginning of the URL in your browser (e.g. https://ezproxywit.flo.org/login?url=https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/)

Method 3: Proxy Bookmarklet

  1. Right-click and copy the link address below:
  2. In your web browser bookmark manager, add a new bookmark
  3. Paste the copied link into the bookmark address field
  4. We recommend naming it "Library Proxy Bookmarklet"
  5. Connect directly to a library-subscribed resource from off-campus (e.g. type https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/ into your browser's location bar).
  6. Click the bookmarklet to route your request through our proxy server (you should see our proxy prefix at the beginning of the URL).

Troubleshooting These Methods:

  • The bookmarklet and proxy copy & paste only works for resources that the library owns or licenses.
  • If you are having trouble, try accessing the resource starting from the Library's website.
  • Reach out to Library Staff (library@wit.edu) for assistance
