Undergraduate Student Positions

The Schumann Library relies upon our team of dedicated student workers to provide excellent customer service to our patrons, under the direction of Library staff, during all hours that the Library is open.

The Library Student Assistant role is available to undergraduate student workers. Responsibilities may include Library Services Desk or Collections Maintenance duties. Read the job description and how to apply below and then fill out our Workday application.

Library Student Assistant Job Description

Work Schedule:  

5-10 hours per week as required (may include opening, closing, and/or weekend hours) 

Pay Rate: 

Current MA minimum wage 

Qualifications: 

  • Current undergraduate enrollment at WIT 
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service 
  • Ability and willingness to learn library procedures and systems 
  • Ability to communicate with members of Wentworth community and library staff in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Ability to attend all assigned semester shifts 
  • Some familiarity with and enthusiasm for working with technology 
  • Ability to work independently for stretches of time
  • A resume is required for this application

Library Services Desk Role 

This role provides circulation services to members of the Wentworth community during Library hours. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Checking in and out of Library items, retrieving and shelving Library items, and performing opening and/or closing duties under the supervision of a Library staff member 
  • Answers basic questions about Library services, hours, materials, and spaces
  • Assists users with equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and other technology
  • Represents the Library to users in a friendly and professional manner 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Library staff 

Collections Maintenance Role 

This role performs library maintenance tasks during Library hours. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Checking in, processing, and shelving Library items 
  • Shelf-reading and shifting Library collection 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Library staff

  • Applications will open on Study Day of the previous semester
  • Applications will close at noon on the first Monday of the semester
  • Application review will begin at noon on the first Monday of the semester

For example, applications for Spring 2023 opened on Study Day of Fall 2022. Applications closed on the first Monday of the Spring 2023 semester and review began on the first Monday of the Spring 2023 semester.

  3. Select "Sara Fogarty" from Hiring Manager dropdown OR type "library" into the job search bar
  4. Click on the appropriate job title
