Evaluating Sources

Is this source scholarly?

When trying to determine if a source is scholarly or peer-reviewed, here are things to consider

  • Who wrote this?  What are their credentials or authority? 
  • Where is the article published?  What is the publication process? 
  • When was this published?
  • Who is the audience? 
  • What sources did the author use and cite? 
  • Is the information and or data in the source accurate? 
  • Are you comfortable using this source?
