If the newspaper story is a contemporary account of an event it can be considered a primary source. If a newspaper story is an interpretation of an event from the past it can be considered a secondary source.

With a BPL e-Card (Boston Public Library) card which is free fro all MA residents and students) you can access historical newspapers. Once you have registered you can go to the online resources page and start searching the newspapers.
