Video is not displaying on screen.

  • Make sure the cords are not loose and are fully connected to the laptop.
  • Make sure the correct “cubby” is selected once the cords are plugged in to the laptop (press one of the two buttons on either side of the “cubby” so that the colors on the buttons turn green instead of blue).
  • The TV monitor input should either be HDMI 1 or HDMI 3, depending on the study room.
  • The cords underneath the table may be unplugged. Please ensure that all cords are plugged in.
  • If you are using a Mac computer, you may need to adjust the display settings on the Mac itself.

Which cables do I use?

  • HDMI cables will transmit both video and sound to the monitor.
  • VGA cables will only transmit video to the monitor. Please also plug in the audio cable for both image and sound.
  • Newer Macbooks only have USB-C ports. The Library can loan out USB-C to HDMI adapters to students who need to connect newer Macbooks.

Please do NOT:

  • Leave cords unplugged.
  • Unplug anything from the TV monitor.
  • Plug in anything to the TV monitor (connecting a laptop directly to the monitor will not display your laptop on the monitor).
  • Move the table from the wall in Study Room 05. The table in Study Room 05 must be flush with the wall. Cables are attached directly to the table and pulling the table away from the wall will pull on and damage the cables.

If you cannot fix the problem:
