Producing an annotated bibliography will be one of your your first assignments. It  will ultimately benefit your thesis, because it compels you to really understand your sources, the meaning of their evidence and ideas, and usefulness to you or others.

A literature review is a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the principal research about the topic being studied. The review need not be exhaustive; the objective is to include the most pertinent studies on the topic.
